Advanced Fertility Solutions, Especially for Him

Overview

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a specialised IVF procedure used especially in cases of male infertility. At our centre, ICSI is performed using an advanced micromanipulator, which is essential for the technique. Often used when IVF alone doesn't yield success, it’s now increasingly applied in normal cases for improved outcomes.

Why ICSI?

ICSI is recommended when male infertility is severe, such as low sperm count, poor motility, or DNA fragmentation. It’s also advised for couples with previous failed IVF cycles or unexplained infertility. By directly injecting a single healthy sperm into the egg, ICSI significantly improves fertilisation chances and enhances treatment success.

Procedure

Initial Consultation

Medications are given to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.

Monitoring & Egg Retrieval

Follicular growth is monitored via ultrasound; mature eggs are retrieved under anaesthesia.

Semen Collection & Processing

A semen sample is collected and specially processed to isolate the healthiest sperm.

ICSI Procedure Using Micromanipulator

A single healthy sperm is carefully injected into each mature egg using advanced micromanipulation equipment.

Fertilisation & Embryo Development

The fertilised eggs (embryos) are cultured in the lab for 3–5 days under optimal conditions.

Embryo Transfer

The best quality embryo(s) are selected and gently transferred into the uterus.

Luteal Phase Support

Hormonal medications are given to support the uterine lining and aid implantation.

Pregnancy Test

After 12–14 days, a blood test is done to confirm pregnancy.

Haja Najub

We recently underwent IVF treatment and couldn't be more grateful for the exceptional care and support we received. Doctor was knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly invested in my journey. From the initial consultation to the post-treatment follow-up, the entire process was handled with professionalism and kindness. However, waiting times were longer than expected, and there were instances where messages weren't conveyed to the doctor accurately by staff which was misleading to some confusion during delivery on timings but the treatment was successful. To improve, I suggest optimising communication and streamlining waiting times. Overall, a good experience, but some areas need attention.

ICSI is typically recommended for severe male infertility, such as low sperm count, poor motility, abnormal morphology, or previous IVF failures. It’s also used in cases of unexplained infertility.

ICSI increases the chances of fertilisation when sperm issues are present. However, success depends on multiple factors, including egg quality, embryo development, and uterine health.

The procedure itself is not painful, as it’s done in the lab. For the patient, egg retrieval is done under sedation. Risks are minimal and similar to those of IVF.

No. While ICSI can significantly improve fertilisation rates, pregnancy depends on overall embryo quality and implantation. Success varies from patient to patient.

Yes. ICSI can be successfully performed using frozen or donor sperm, depending on the clinical situation.

This varies based on the number of mature eggs retrieved and sperm quality. Not all injections result in fertilisation, but ICSI improves the odds.

The chances are comparable to standard IVF. With advanced technology and expert handling, ICSI has a strong track record of healthy pregnancies and live births.
